About me
I'm originally from Hertfordshire, located between London and Cambridge in the southeast of England. Before becoming an English teacher, I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in a diverse range of jobs, including a computer programmer, a fitness associate, an au-pair, a waitress, a tour guide and a business travel consultant.
In 1999 I did some part-time English teaching work, then in 2005 I realised that this was the career for me! Since then I've been teaching English as a foreign language full time, and I began teaching online as well in 2010. I'm passionate about helping my students achieve their goals, and I find it very rewarding helping them to improve rapidly in a short time.
I have a BA Hons degree in Tourism Management from the University of Hertfordshire, and as part of the course I spent one semester at Las Palmas University in Gran Canaria, and then six months working as in intern for Rail Europe in Colorado, USA. In 2009 I completed the Cambridge DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults) qualification at International House in Seville, Spain, with a specialism in teaching business English and presentation skills. One year later I was awarded a distinction for the FTBE (Further Certificate for Teachers of Business English) from LCCI (London Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
Throughout my career I've worked in various private language schools in Malta and Spain, and also in a graduate school in London. Additionally, I have given webinars and workshops on improving presentation skills, I've worked as a director for a group of Polish teachers participating in a summer program in Malta, and I spent eight years running teacher training courses on methodology, ICT and CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). I’ve worked with students of all abilities, with groups of English teachers from all over the world, and with business professionals from a wide range of industries. I've always had a passion for helping my students build their confidence, enabling them to reach their full potential and further their careers. I feel very lucky to be able to work with such a broad spectrum of people from such varying backgrounds, and I find it fascinating learning about their cultures, their lifestyles and their daily work.
As well as giving English lessons, at times I also run full immersion courses on the beautiful little island of Gozo, Malta, in the heart of the Mediterranean. I love showing my students all around this hidden gem, and it brings me great joy helping them to progress so quickly when they can use the target language all day long.

and my teaching methods
When I’m not working, I enjoy hiking in the countryside, swimming in the sea, walking along the cliffs, cooking my favourite recipes, meeting up with friends for dinner or a coffee, or relaxing at home with my two cats. And I always look forward to meeting new friends or students from different places around the world and getting to know all about their countries, their traditions and their way of life.
